Letterpress Shakespeare Prints

$ 6.00

Printed just a few miles from Shakespeare's birthplace, our letterpress cards are designed and printed by artist Louisa Hare on the edge of the Cotswolds.

Louisa grew up on a farm five miles from Stratford, where she gained familiarity with Shakespeare’s plays from a young age. While working in an antiquarian bookshop in Stratford upon Avon, Louisa discovered an exceptionally beautiful reproduction copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio Volume. This volume, itself vintage, inspired these letterpress cards.

The cards are printed by letterpress, the traditional, ‘hands on’ method of printing. Hand mixed ink is rolled onto the relief surface of blocks and type, then transferred onto paper using pressure. This means the cards are very tactile, with a rich texture and deep stamp impression.

Our favorites for Valentine's? Try As You Like It #122, Love's Labour's Lost #49, Othello #72, Romeo & Juliet #71, Taming of the Shrew #98, and The Winter's Tale #115.
