Folks & Fables Halloween Tradition Set
This item is FINAL SALE and cannot be returned.
October is not just the month of Halloween. It is also Family History Month, and Folks and Fables was born from that happy overlap.
Here is how it works. Sometime at the beginning of October, you bring Boo the black cat out of storage along with a pedigree chart to fill out as a family. You take a few minutes to sit down together, remember names, match faces to photographs, and talk about the people who came before you. Then throughout the month, Boo slips out of his tin at night and returns with a small memento, sometimes a photograph, sometimes an object tied to a story. A bag of pink mints for grandpa. A tube of red lipstick or a cookie jar for grandma. Whatever Boo finds becomes the prompt for a story, and the kids get to hunt him down in the morning before the telling begins.
It does not happen every night, and that is part of what makes it work. The randomness keeps it special, and the stories are what make it last.
