Grand Canyon Study II - Tad Retz
With its softened edges and atmospheric palette, Grand Canyon Study II offers a beautiful impression of the canyon’s vast and weathered beauty. Hazy blues, dusty rose, and deep shadowed browns stretch across the distance, while the darker cliff in the foreground gives the scene a sense of depth and vantage. It carries the feeling of standing at the canyon’s edge as the day begins to soften and the landscape settles into evening light.
About the Artist: Based in Syracuse, New York, Tad Retz (b. 1996) took up painting as a full-time pursuit straight out of high school and has been refining his craft ever since through daily work, wide travel, and close study of the American, Russian, and European impressionist masters he loves. His recent paintings explore what different tools and techniques can do to a surface, a quiet, ongoing conversation between his hand and the paint.
