Beartooth Wilderness - Tad Retz
Beartooth Wilderness draws on the rugged beauty of this mountain region in southern Montana and northern Wyoming, where alpine lakes sit beneath high, weathered peaks. Soft blues, earthy greens, and pale touches of snow move across the landscape in loose, expressive brushwork, while the water below gives the scene a sense of calm and depth. It feels like a glimpse into a remote and beautiful place, full of fresh air, changing light, and the kind of stillness that makes you want to linger.
About the Artist: Based in Syracuse, New York, Tad Retz (b. 1996) took up painting as a full-time pursuit straight out of high school and has been refining his craft ever since through daily work, wide travel, and close study of the American, Russian, and European impressionist masters he loves. His recent paintings explore what different tools and techniques can do to a surface, a quiet, ongoing conversation between his hand and the paint.
