Austrian landscape painter Rudolf Ribarz (1848-1904) was trained in Vienna's Academy of Fine Arts by Albert Zimmerman. Ribarz traveled extensively throughout Europe and found himself painting with Corot and the Barbizon School in France. This piece was painted near the beach in Le Tréport, France. This stunning landscape features a shadowed figure of a woman picking her way along the rocky beach, with her skirts raised in an effort to keep them dry from the incoming waves.
We purchased this piece in Frankfurt, Germany, and couldn't help but stop and stare. We hope it does the same for you.
