Jean-Charles Cazin (1840-1901) primarily worked in France, but during a short jaunt to England, he was heavily influenced by the pre-Raphaelite painters. His paintings have a sense of simple motion. While many of his paintings were religious in nature, his landscapes were well received.
This particular landscape shows rolling hills and a path that weaves to nowhere. Its strong colors and moody skies are a perfect combination.
