Old Cottages at Pinner was painted in 1890 by the English painter Helen Allingham. It captures a storybook cottage tucked into the green, with a mother cradling her baby and a little one at her side. Everything feels soft and lived-in, from the overgrown garden path to the ivy climbing the walls. You can almost hear the birdsong and feel the warmth of the afternoon sun just by looking at it. It’s the kind of painting that makes you breathe a little slower and wish you were there, even just for a moment.
