Victorian Gold and Coral Ring
This original item has been sold.
During the 1800s, coral was used in brooches, rings, and earrings. Often the coral was carved into cameos, flowers, and all sizes of beads to be strung and worn as a necklace. Thought to be a stone of peace and transformation, women would even wear natural branches of coral, a fashion started in Italy.
This Victorian coral ring has a unique setting in which the three coral pieces are offset by pink toned seed pearls. Despite the abundance of stones, this piece maintains a stunningly simple appearance.
