I painted this scene at Artist’s Point in Yellowstone National Park. As I set up my paint box I thought about the hundreds of other artists that have been inspired by this place. The history tells the story of a group of artists capturing the scene and by doing so helping the preservation of the National Parks. I realized that along with the job of a landscape artist comes the responsibility to capture the disappearing landscape around us. At that moment I was painting something that was true to how it was generations ago because of people like me that desired to capture and preserve landscapes in paint.
