The Cliffs at St Ives
Two mornings in a row I woke up before sunrise to capture this scene near St George. I captured five different studies of the scene en plein air that aided me in doing this larger piece. The sunrise on the red cliffs created the most unreal and saturated colors. Nature truly does come up with the best color combinations. I originally wanted to paint this scene to capture more of a western desert feel void of trees and water. My hope was to show the arid nature of the desert.
