The retelling of a biblical narrative, Suzanne et la Pacifique, is the story of an 18-year-old woman on a world adventure. When the boat crashes she finds herself on a desert island, supposedly belonging to the gods. When she is observed bathing by two old men, she refuses their advances. In anger, they accuse her of adultery and she is sentenced to death. A young prophet, Daniel, works to prove her innocence.
The pearl is a symbol of wisdom gained through adversity. A pearl is formed when an oyster or mollusk is forced to defend itself from a foreign invasion. It wages a battle with the irritant by coating it in layers of its own inner shimmer. Soon the invader is encapsulated by luminous layers and is no longer harmful to the oyster.
When gift-giving I love to find personalized symbols that remind me of the strength of a person’s character. These pearls are a beautiful gift for someone going through their own battle; a symbol of what comes out of the fight for survival.
The jewels also need to take a break and put in their case before going to bed. You’ll find them dazzling the next day, after your beauty routine.
