Along the Shores
Watercolor, 19.5" x 22.25" framed
The Teasdel family’s wealthy estate provided Mary with a solid art and music education, studying with both George M. Ottinger and J.T. Harwood. When her family’s fortunes turned she was able to convince her father to let her study in Paris, where she became the first female painter of Utah to exhibit in the Paris Salon. She returned and supported herself by teaching art in Salt Lake schools and opening a private studio. She is most well-known for her accomplished painterly style in landscape art.
